Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actor and performer whose performance variety earned her acclaim across many genres from period drama to thrillers and action. Johansson was raised living in New York City as the daughter an architect and a production company. Hunter was the twin of the younger sibling. By the time she was seven, her interest in acting was growing. She started to audition for commercials. Soon after she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and afterwards took classes at the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to further refine her skills. She made her debut as an actor in the film North (1994) aged nine. At eight, she starred alongside Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson was next seen in Just Cause (1995), before making her big break with Manny & Lo - a tale about two sisters who are orphans who escape. After that, she earned critical praise for portraying a teenage girl who had experienced an accident which left her damaged on screen in The Horse Whisperer (1998). She gained more attention for her performance in Ghost World (2002) as the outcast cynical Rebecca.
